be careful.. u will damage the lens of yr cdrom drive very easily this way..
i have done cd repairs professionally (almost all of that was doing lens
cleaning) and i wud only recomend a good camera lens grade microfibre cloth
and a lens cleaning liquid.. it works really well.

PS:you can buy a camera lens cleaning kit which wud contain the above
