just edit ur XF86Config file. look for a line
FontPath "unix/:-1"
change it to:
FontPath "/"
X will rewrite the fontpath(back to 'unix/:-1' )once it starts up
propperly. nothing to worry about.

this usually happens due to an improper shutdown.
