Hi Neil ,

>what an ass..

Well Neil , i wouldn't exactly put it that way . He is well respected
consultant for Sun , and after hearing him for 3 days i think he is
anything but that.

>trust an indian to make a fool of himself... why make a presentation in
>ppt when u try to show that u r using linux???? i mean... didnt he find
>any linux bases thingys that could do the same thing???
>the underdown went down under to come out an ass...

He wasnt 'trying' to show he was using linux , he made the presentation in
PPT as he just hands it over to the training division of Sun in the country
he is speaking in , to pass it on to the people who took the course . In
fact during the course of the seminar , he made more than one subtle
potshot at MS/Windows. All the XML/WAP examples he gave and all the demos
were in Linux (Cocoon,Tomcat,Xerxes,Xeena etc etc) . And the way he was
going about it , it was pretty clear he was a linux user and not 'trying'
to use it like i probably would.

>as for vmware... i think it is meant only for those who need to show their
>boss that they are still working in win98.cos in the big picture... vmware
>sucks.(not technologically... but practically)

Well you obviously dont feel the need for it , some people do. My company
is into web development and though i use Windows myself , i need to demo
applications , sometimes in PERL or PHP . I dont want to drag 2 computers
around so i simply use a virtual computer under vmware to act as the webserver.

In another instance i needed to show a windows application that had a
client side s/w and a server side s/w for IIS . They needed to be on
separate machines . Again i used vmware to install Win2k server and IIS ,
and was able to use it successfully .
