Not true!! I am running X on a Pentium 90 MHz with 16 MB RAM, true KDE or Gnome don't 
boast of blazing speed, but WindowMaker does!!

This is with RH 6.2 I'm not sure if RH 7 is any different, may be someone else can 
comment.

Bottomline: X-windows DOES not require cutting edge configs to run.

You seem to be using the graphical install mode. Try the text mode by typing "text" at 
the CDROM's boot prompt. THe text mode is much more efficient, even more so with 
limited system resources like yours.
