[linux-delhi] alias with & sign

Hi ,

I want to creatre alias with & sign in between like 

a&b but when ever i create the file 

.qmail-a&b it says 

[1] 6985
bash: b: command not found

[1]+  Stopped (tty output)    vi .qmail-a

can anybody suggest what can i do to create this alias.
