test my gcc . but it says cannot fiond <stdio.h>
Hmm okay so i did a :$find / -name "stdio.h" -print .So it did
not find a stdio.h file. What can be the problem now.
Any help on this would be very nice.

Hi All,
I am about to change our office server from NT4 (I spit on it) to RH6.0.
The only obstacle is that I need to write a TCP/IP server for some custom
software. Can anyone point me to where I can find a TCP/IP library and/or
examples. My C is a little rusty, so I need some tips.

TCP/IP, along with all other protocols have always been
included in the standard C library. They all use the same
interface (socket, connect, listen, accept, etc).
Don't try to switch your server all in one go. I suggest
taking maybe printing or something first (something non-critical)
so you can become familiar with the system.
The book 'UNIX Network Programming' 2nd Edition Volume 1 is an
excellent book full of example code and detailed explanations.
If your C is rusty, maybe you should fix that first.
Hope this helps...

Hi
I am compiling some ugly code, and I got a linker error,
about an unknown function called __eh_alloc. Somebody knows where
is defined and what it does?. I looked for it in almost every
include place in my linux system, but I couldn't found it. Thanks

I upgraded from 5.1 to 5.2 and now to 6.0. I noticed that my Gnome is

Subject: Modularizing loop device encryption filters

Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I recently found myself manually patching encrytion filters from kernel
2.0.x into the loop device code in 2.2.x and 2.3.x kernels. It struck me
while I was working with it that this kind of stuff would probably be
best to modularize, that is, leave the filters out of the loop code and
just write some generic filter interface.
This would also eliminate the need to patch the kernel itself to add in
encryption filters (since the export laws of the US are rather strict).
It would merely be a matter of compiling and inserting a new module to
add a new filter.
This would naturally require minor modifications to the existing losetup
and mount commands, but a bit of clever /proc would then make it all
dynamic.
Is anybody working with this right now? Is this something people would
want, or am I the only person paranoid enough to actually encrypt my
filesystems?
If nobody's working on it, I could take a closer look at it. Help and
suggestions are welcome, of course.

Subject: opening socket in a device
Date: 25 May 1999 11:50:13 GMT
Hi,
we have big problems with lpd and out HP JetEX print servers that don't
comunicate a standard way with linux.
The only solution seems to me to write a device driver that talks to the
JetEX.
Now I have two parts ready:
1. A skeleton device driver that prints only messages to the console whe in
open and close teh device.
2. The real program that comunicates with the HP JetEX.
This prog uses the socket and the connect funtion to connect to the
printserver.
If I join this to programs and make insmod the loader tells me it does not
know where to find "socket" and "connect".
What kernel functions can I use instead of "socket" and "connect" ?
"The Linux Programmer's Guide" in the LDP tells me that both are part of
the syscalls available. Are they or aren't they.
I you can help me please send the answer to

Thank you

I think we can write a device driver or some applications

but, I cannot find some examples.
Could you please tell me some useful and simple application

Thanks

Maybe look at "gpm", when used as a repeater converting
protocol for X-Window mouse (gmp -R , file /dev/gpmdata)
You may have to do only Xon/Xoff on the virtual pipe.

TCP/IP is a part of your system. Run "info libc" at command prompt,
there's much useful information about TCP/IP programming in section
"Sockets".

It might have something to do with filesystems. The software we use in
Windoze 95 defaults to create a Joliet filesystem on the CD-ROM which is I
believe different from the standard ISO9660 format. You might want to
reburn it and check that. Or you can compile Joilet support into your
kernel.

No idea on the latency I'm afraid, the people who really know the details of
this work at a another office. I'll enquire next time I'm there. I'd suspect
that the latency must be quite low because all requests for non-local
devices/memory are routed over ServerNet.
I have never heard of HIPPI though, could you elaborate?

Not 100%, but it's close. Signal handling is broken. Basic
threading, mutexes, condition variables, and pretty much all
the rest works. But don't rely on POSIX signal semantics. You
can have all the threads but one block a signal and have that
one wait for it.
