Hi.

I recently upgraded my slackware (or rather reinstalled everything) I'm
running slackware 3.3, kernel 2.0.30, and I found out that diald didn't
come with it. The previous version was a Linux Universe book and cd set,
which installed both diald and a sample dialdconf file. Well anyway, my old
dialdconf file which I saved on a floppy certainly doesn't work with the
version I just downloaded.... could someone help me out here.?

Found my modem, Minicom works and dials out just fine.

I need to write a diald.conf file and I guess some scripts to go in
etc/ppp.

All I need this for is the simple task of automatic dialing to my isp
whenever netscape or ftp is launched. Later I may try to use this to
automatically get my email or something, but not yet.

I read the PPP-howto, and this is what I've done so far:

Compiled in PPP support, when I boot it says PPP line discipline
registered -did I need this??

/etc/resolv.conf is o.k. according to the how-to

/etc/host.conf is o.k. according to the how-to

I *think* I need scripts for
/etc/ppp/options
/etc/ppp/scripts/ppp-on
/etc/ppp/scripts/ppp-on-dialer
???

I connect to my ISP just using a username and password.

Please excuse my newbie-ness... the previous distribution I installed was a
little more user-friendly, but this time I'd like to know how to do this
"from scratch".

--Thanks in advance
