RedHat 5.2's current sendmail (sendmail-8.8.7-20.i386.rpm)
definitely does NOT make DNS queries with
O DeliveryMode=deferred
I can sit here and send dozens of messages, sendmail
queues them, and the modem never dials, until my cron
job does 'sendmail -q' which brings the link up.
It is so easy to update sendmail if your Linux uses rpm,
you might as well - since the newer sendmail has fewer
security problems. I say fewer because there are undoubtedly
still more waiting to be discovered.
