Hi,
I've been away from this list for a while so this might have been
mentioned before - if so, apologies in advance.
I noticed that diald was bringing up our internet connection at 1/2
hour intervals. The PC that this was traced to was sitting with a
Netscape browser window open at www.altavista.com.
On inspection of the html for the altavista homepages, it seems
that the webmasters have added a line:
<META http-equiv=Refresh content=1800>
This makes Netscape (and probably every other browser) reload
the page every 30 minutes from when the page was first loaded.
I have written to AltaVista support asking them to remove this
'feature' - I've not had a reply yet.
