Nope. That's the problem. 2.0.x supports ipfwadm. 2.1.x+ supports ipchains, not ipfwadm. The fact that ipchains is confusing and hard (for me) to follow is one of the biggest reasons why I haven't upgraded to a 2.1.x kernel. (heck, ipfwadm is still a bit confusing to me!). I believe that there is a script that will "convert" or "interpret" your ipfwadm calls to ipchains calls, but the author(s) said that it was advisable to just switch to ipchains since it's more versatile and configurable (sorry, I don't remember where I saw it). peace favor your sword ---------- From: Dave Picard Sent: Friday, January 22, 1999 10:15 AM To: LKLawson; "'[EMAIL PROTECTED]'" Subject: diald on a 2.1.132 kernel and ipfwadm -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- I cannot seem to get my firewall rules to work on my system. They worked on a 2.0.35 kernel last, but when I upgraded to 2.1.132 they stopped functioning. I noticed some commentary on ipchains and attempted that, but that didn't work. Actually, my server couldn't send anything, let alone the clients, when I converted the ipfwadm calls to ipchains calls. Does anyone know what needs to be used on the 2.1.132 kernel to set up the firewall, and what versions are required to work with diald? ////// David J.
