(Please change your settings so lines wrap at 80 columns).

>From reading the docs many years ago, SLIP wants a fixed IP address, PPP can
deal with dynamic addresses.  PPP can negotiate many options, whereas with SLIP
you have to specify them before you begin the connection.  SLIP uses 1 less
byte than PPP does.  PPP can handle multiple protocol stacks (IP, IPX,
Appletalk, etc.), while SLIP can only handle IP.
