A while ago there was some discussion on this list about the problem of
diald "thrashing" on initial link establishment. That is, numerous hangups
and redial. I have found, in my case, that commenting out the "accept tcp"
time filter rule (/usr/lib/diald/standard.filter) has considerably reduced
these redials. I did try to increase the timeout period in this rule, but
that didn't help. Commenting out the rule did.

I have no explanation as to why.
