Here it is in a corpulent nutshell: RH5.0, 2.0.30, PPP, 4 host 10Base2
SOHO through IP Masq.

My ppp dial-up (w/ chap) to my isp works fine and I have packets via all
boxes.
While trying to config diald I continue to get disconnected after what
appears
a finite interval. The chat script works, pppd runs, and diald also.
The ppp0 interface
also comes up with the correct ip (dynamic) assignments. However,
device sl0
ip's are questionable and I have no route beyond my isp. I read the
faq, Howto, manpages,
etc. and can not get it configured. I've tried numerous iterations
(that have evolved into
irritations) in /etc/diald.conf iaw man diald-examples. For the most
part I can rule-out
pppd and chat because the ppp dial-up works. I'm not sure if slip is
the culprit but need
some plain vanilla help (i.e. a generic diald.conf). Lastly, what does
the manpage
mean regarding slip on a proxy tty? Regardless of the ip's I put in
diald.conf, diald
invokes the chat script when I send traffic on the line (this is good).
Btw I'm running
diald-0.16 w/ patch 0.16.5 and ppp-2.2.of.

Thanks
