I have diald 0.16 working well. (After lurking on this list for quite a while and reading the FAQs.) But I have found that the chat fifo file (/etc/diald/chat.fifo) gets as large as 4k, and then diald stops responding. Shortly after diald stops responding, my whole machine stops responding. Linux accepts no more logins and responds slowly, until I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL to get it to reboot. Alternatively, if I have a login session active where I can dump the buffer (with a "cat /etc/diald/chat.fifo" command), as soon as I issue the command and the system dumps the log to the terminal, diald starts responding and the system comes back to useful life. As a result, I have had to resort to devoting one of my ttys to running "cat /etc/diald/chat.fifo" all the time, so that the buffer is emptied as it fills up. I don't like losing this login screen, so does anyone have any suggestions? I have MON_CONNECT set to "no" in /etc/sysconfig/diald ; should I have something else set in another file?
