Hi all,
I am trying to stop diald starting up my link when sendmail has mail
queued for remote hosts. Using a debug value of 89 in /etc/diald.conf I
can see in /var/log/messages that rule 1 is being accepted and this
starts my link:

Rule 1 in my standard.filter file is:
accept tcp 60 tcp.syn
It seems that sendmail is trying to make a connection to port 25 (smtp)
of various hosts as it has mail queued up for them. It will do this
every 30 minutes as it tries to clear its queue, thus causing diald to
continue to trigger every 30 minutes.
My questions are:
1. What is the SYN packet?
2. Why does sendmail cause rule 1 to be accepted?
3. Can I just remove rule 1 to fix this problem?
