>"ATX3&C1&D2%C0" fails to initialize the modem; which is the right string ?
You removed the Z from the command: you may need it!
Does X3 is a command recognized by your modem? If it does, you may want to
try:
"ATZX3&C1&D2%C0"
Modem commands vary from one modem to the other: check with your modem
manual to make sure that you are using the right commands.
