The auth option belongs in /etc/ppp/options. Furthermore, most of
the other bad options would be considered global options by most
people ... modem, crtscts, etc. Connect options do belong in
/etc/ppp/peers/* , which is exactly where Debian places them.
Debian splits the options into two files, /etc/ppp/options and
/etc/ppp/peers/provider . Which file should contain which
options? Perhaps we can convince Debian to change if we have a
good argument.
And no, they're not being paid to be dumb. They're volunteers.
