If you are using the /proc filesystem:
cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
- it should return 1, if ip forwarding is enabled, otherwise to enable:
echo 0 >/proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
The command 'ipfwadm -F -l' will tell you something about the current
forwarding rules. (If you are using a 2.0.x kernel, which i presume.)
1) Can the linux gate ping hosts on the internet?
2) Can the other machines ping the linux gate (internal/external interface)?
