Hi,

I am trying to set up diald on my home PC. I have compiled and installed it
successfully. I am sure that the problem is related to my kernel
configuration or conf.modules file but I can't figure it out. When I
actually run diald I get the following errors in my /var/log/messages:

May 8 08:19:57 jeropa diald[759]: start tap0: SIOCSIFMETRIC: Operation not
supported
May  8 08:19:58 jeropa modprobe: can't locate module net-pf-17
May  8 08:19:58 jeropa modprobe: can't locate module net-pf-17
May 8 08:19:58 jeropa diald[759]: Could not get socket to do packet
monitoring: Socket type not supported
May 8 08:19:58 jeropa diald[759]: Diald is dieing with code 1

Any help would be appreciated...

P.S. I finally found where those net-pf numbes were described and it said
this:
#define AF_PACKET 17 /* Packet family

I made sure to compile this as a module and put:
alias net-pf-17 af_packet
in my conf.modules. This did not help at all. When I ran diald it loaded
the af_packed module but died with the same message.
