I've been having a problem with diald and i've not been able to find any
references to it in the documentation or some of the HOWTO's i've read
either. Here goes:

I'm running a Slackware 2.0.34 box as a server on a heterogenous net of
Windows and Macintosh machines, and one of it's duties is serving as an
Internet gateway for the rest of the machines on the network. However,
when a client machine on the network makes a connection to a server
on the Internet, diald catches it and dials the modem, connects to the
Internet, but doesnt seem to let the client know this, which results
in the client not being able to connect. If the client stops the first
attempt (which brought up the link and then fails) and tries to connect
to the site after the link is brought up, it works fine with no delays.

This isnt a fatal problem, but the users really don't like the inconvenience
nonetheless. This problem only occurs with both the Macintosh and Windows
client machines over IP Masq; the Linux server is not affected by the delay.
I'm wondering if anyone has seen this problem before and could perhaps
give me a few suggestions on how to handle it? I'm suspecting something like
route problems, but i'm not sure.

Thanks,
