Hi All,
I finally took the plunge and upgraded from RH 4.2 to RH 6.0 :-).
Problem trying to get PPP with demand dialing option to work:
If I start ppp by hand with ppp-on script, it works fine and
I can reach the Internet. However, when the connection is
terminated for being idle, the pppd dies also despite the fact
that I have "demand" in the options file and I do not have
"nopersist" in the options file.
I thought the documentation says that "demand" option implies
"persist" and so the pppd should not die also when the connection
is terminated?
I was hoping to start pppd from rc.local and have it sit there
and manage connections accordingly, without the need to
start it all the time. That's how diald has been working for
me the past two years.
Anyone seen this problem and what is the solution?
Thanks,
/basie
