1) First, be sure you can get ppp working. No sense in messing with
diald without this! You will eventually move some of the configuration
options from the ppp options file to the diald configuration file.

2) Be sure the kernel has all the proper support, either in-kernel or as
modules. In addition to standard networking, TCP/IP, and ppp support,
you need ethertap and af_packet. I did the ethertap as a module:

        CONFIG_ETHERTAP=m       
        CONFIG_PACKET=y

3) Add to /etc/conf.modules: (Second one probably not needed)

        alias   tap0    ethertap
        options tap0    -o tap0 unit=0

4) Create an ethertap device: (This also may not be required)

        mknod /dev/tap0 c 36 16

5) Get the latest diald source and compile it:

        http://diald.unix.ch/

6) See "man diald" and "man diald-examples" for configuration tips.
