3 answers for this:
1. If your linux box is configured as a dns server for your local
network, you have to be sure that the name that the vnc client is using
is in your host file :
        vncviewer <linuxbox_name>:<desktop_number>
        or http://<linuxbox_name>:580<desktop_number>/
2. you can also use directly the ip address of the server ,just replace
linuxbox_name by linuxbox_address

3. If your client machine is a Windows machine, you can use the hosts
file in the windows directory: find the file hosts.sam , modify it , and
rename it hosts
