Hello All:

I have been evesdropping on this list for a few months now and have given
up and will now humbly ask for help... :-(

I have RH5.2 with the updates installed many, many times. I have been
"Playing" with it and TrinityOS, to replace a dial on demand router/proxy
(OK its MS Proxy) which was working just fine. I decided that everyone who
was Raving about the penguin could not be wrong. I have been working in
computers since 1977, (yes I started on a MainFrame) and have seen TRSDOS,
OS/9, MS-DOS, OS/2 1.x, 2.x, 3.x, Netware 3.x and 4.x, LanManager and Server
1.x and 2.x as well as Windows NT 3.x, 4.x and now 2000.

I am not a beginner with PCs or OSs....BUT, I'm Stumped.. I have read Man
pages, HOWTOs and even source code!!

What I am finaly trying to do is just get DialD/Chat and PPPD to talk to my
ISP which uses a dynamic IP address. I have tried many different
combinations of /etc/diald.conf options with the /etc/diald/connect and
everything else, I have also tried DIALD 16.0 and 16.5.

        I have the RH 5.1, 5.2 and 6.0, the computer I am using is a Pentium 90
with 32M and a 1Gig ATA HD and a ATA CDROM.

What I would like is a standard /etc/diald.conf, /etc/connect, and anything
gotcha hints that I may have missed.

I also have a funny situation where minicom will not startup, if I install
Telix under MS-DOS I can use the modem so I know the modem is well connected
to COM1:. I have tried using /dev/ttyS0, /dev/cua0 and /dev/modem but the
program will not work.

Thanks

Gary Baribault

P.S. if little old Pengy will take over the Windows 9X world, we better make
the installation and debugging a little more english like!
