Are you by chance using linuxconf (stock on RH6.0 and I think on
RH5.2)? If so, that's what is most likely changing your permissions.
You'll need to go into it and find that tab that allows you to
permanently set permissions on files, then set it to leave that alone.
Can't recall the tab. But, I can try to locate it if you have too much
trouble finding it.
