Not clear by what you're saying about an 'extra' com port. The ones
I've used (just changed to PC about 4 or 5 years ago - used to use
Amiga) all required allocation in the BIOS and/or jumper settings on
the board.

The only experience I have with 'Dozemodems has been when they're
connected to 'Doze boxes. Even then they're slow compared to genuine
modems. Since they didn't work in DO$ I never looked to see whether
they showed up as anything or not.
> Should they appear as a /dev/ttyS(n)??
Yes, but. I've heard of others seeing them show up as /dev/cuaX or
/dev/ttySX in Linux and not be able to get them to work. No dialing,
no response to AT commands, nothing with setserial helps, etc. Yet
they show as being attached when using something like modemtool or some
other graphical interface.
Again, this is what I've seen mentioned on other lists. I haven't
bothered to check into what they do in Linux or DO$ since they were
useless in anything other than 'Doze.
