Yep. This is an issue that everyone runs into and is well documented in the
FAQ. It's only the first packet that's lost.
Make sure you have multiple nameserver's identified in /etc/resolv.conf (up
to five, can be duplicates). The first request will fail; however,
subsequent requests should be okay - and your dns lookup shoud eventually
work.
