I don't have IP chains configured specifically to any interface as I simply
have it masqerading for anything not on the local subnet (as determined by
IP, rather than by interface). The local (fake) ip address listed in the
diald.conf is located on the local subnet and the remote address (which is
the real one by the way) is not located on the local subnet. So I need to
configure ip chains via interface rather than via ip only?

Do you have IPChains configured to forward/masqurade for the ppp0 device
AND the sl0 device the diald uses?
