.99 end of the line?

Well, I've failing to find a way to get Diald .99 to run on my RH5.2
system.  Furthermore, despite the support offered by the kind members of
this list, I still don't know why I get error messages from chat.

Soooo, in leiu of upgrading to a 2.2 system, I guess I'll try Diald 0.16.5
unless anyone has anything else to add?
