I want to run several server operations on a dialup connection. I have an
ip-up script with diald that automatically connects to my dynamic IP
registration server, so anyone can access my computer at any time by
typing in the same domain name. But none of this concerns you.
My problem is keeping my computer online all the time. Diald comes
totally configured toward "demand dialing", and doesn't really explain how
to do the simplest task of all - keep the link up, NO MATTER WHAT. My ISP
disconnects me every 4 hours, so I need diald to do is detect when I'm
down, and reconnect. I suppose I have to edit the filter, but I don't
know what to put in.
Secondly, how can I make a user other than root able to use diald and
dctrl? Thanks!
