Jake:
I had a similar question a few days ago. The list advised me to insert an
ATW2 command in my chat script. That made the modem report the actual
connect speed rather than the requested connect speed. I had to add a few
more lines to the chat script and now have the connect speed reported to my
console screen.
from memory ---
exec chat -v -r /dev/console \ < tells chat to report (-r) to the
screen (\dev\console)
...
...
REPORT CONNECT \ < matches the word "CONNECT" from the modem
and ... saves the following text (numeric speed)
for reporting
...
...
ATW2 \ < tells the modem to report the actual
connect speed
... rather than the requested connect speed.
...
...
I have only just gotten this to work and have not tried to get the REPORT
line into the system logs. I am sure that when I re-read the man pages for
chat I will find a way.
