Hi Vikash,
you can use diald with ethertap! You just have to put "-daemon" in your diald.conf.
To switch back to slip, just put
        alias tap0 off
        alias tap1 off
        ...
        alias tap15 off
in your conf.modules file. Using slip you don't need the "-daemon" entry in your 
diald.conf.

Since my ethertap devices are now setup....is there a way of telling diald 
to use slip?

I wud rather force diald to slip instead of removing my ethertap device.
