Complete success.  As a matter of fact, it always worked in 2.0.36 + 0.99.1
+ eth0 configuration.  The only side effect was multiple "sl0: xmit called
while iface if down".  They were harmless but annoying.

After applying the patch messages went away.

At home, with the same configuration except for absence of eth0, I never
saw "xmit called" and everything was fine.
