You MUST add the 'connect' command to your diald.conf file. Otherwise, how
would it know what file you want to use with chat? Look at the diald
examples for correct usage.
My own diald.conf is something like the following:
mode ppp
accounting-log /var/log/diald.log
fifo /etc/diald/diald.ctl
connect "/usr/sbin/chat -f /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/chat-ppp0"
device /dev/modem
speed 115200
modem
lock
crtscts
local x.x.x.x
remote x.x.x.x
dynamic
defaultroute
include /usr/lib/diald/standard.filter
