If noipdefault isn't specified pppd will scan the local
interfaces and use the first "real" IP address it finds
as the local address for the link. My guess is that this
leads to a race condition where diald could read the addresses
off the PPP link before the remote end has given the actual
address. From there everything will go horribly wrong...
