I have 2 problems. I had a good installation of diald
running on RH 5.2. I changed ISP's that uses pap and went
ahead and upgraded to RH6.0. I can bring up the ISP with
PAP from shell scripts. But when I try to initiate from diald
I dont seem to be able to either pass the right args to pppd
or I am obviously missing something because from watching the
debug my machine is still trying to authenticate my ISP.
I am using the same pap-secrets file and options for both
command line script connection and through diald. Only
difference is that I pass pppd args of noauth and call 'filename'
from the shell that diald doesnt seem to be able to???

The other problem is that while diald is failing it is able to
repetitively access my modem port. For some reason my shell
script after the first successful connect can no longer open
or deal with the com port. Minicom is also able to open the port
just apparently shell scripts are having trouble both from the
command line and when run from crontab. I dont know if this is
related but when I do get success connect and bring the link
down with 'ifconfig ppp0 down' ppp disappears from the ifconfig list
but the loaded module ppp stays loaded and the phone line stays up.
Am I fighting some odd problem with RH 6 installations.

This doesnt seem to necessarily be a problem with diald but the
combination of things is definitely preventing me from using diald.

        thanks for any input
