Hi,
I am using diald to build a slip link to my ISP with a cable modem (this
is a cable modem that connects to the pc's serial port and emulates a
hayes compatible telephone modem) Diald brings the link up just fine,
and keeps it up as I specified in diald.conf (ISP hangs up every 36
hours). So far no problem. But here comes the weird part: when I try to
connect to my PC using ftp from a unix shell I can login fine, but can't
ls or download anything. I can't use lynx to connect to my apache
either, but when I am connecting from a windows box, both Netscape and
IE can connect just fine to my apache. Futhermore I can't send any news
messages from my box, or upload anything with passive mode ftp (active
mode is no problem). Telnet, ftp (passive mode) downloads, browsing,
ssh, reading news are no problem.
Some more info on my system:
RedHat 6.1 (6.0 showed same problems)
dynamic IP's (my ISP refuses to give me a static IP, so I'm using a
dynamic DNS service)
If you want to try and see what I mean, you can try to connect to
http://www.rattlesnake.cx - this should show you the apache
"installation succesfull" page.
I hope someone knows how to solve this,
Kick Glorie
