I'm having the same problem, but for me diald still works.
Is this diald trying to change the MTU and MRU settings?
Somewhere in the diald man or readme's I ran across a section
that said have Ip and something else loaded. But I have no idea
how to ensure these packages are loaded in RedHat 6.0
But if its not really required I may just do what has been
suggested here and remove the metric entry. Sounds like I'm
loosing out on diald optimizing my connections.
