Ben,

Thanks for the info...

I had a typo related to the error. The module error is "char-major-108".
Here is a snip-it from my messages file:

Nov 7 03:11:37 RHLSystem1 diald[772]: Calling site 127.0.0.3
Nov 7 03:12:11 RHLSystem1 diald[772]: Connected to site 127.0.0.3
Nov 7 03:12:11 RHLSystem1 diald[772]: Running pppd (pid = 826).
Nov 7 03:12:11 RHLSystem1 modprobe: can't locate module char-major-108
Nov 7 03:12:11 RHLSystem1 pppd[826]: The remote system is required to
authenticate itself but I
Nov 7 03:12:11 RHLSystem1 pppd[826]: couldn't find any secret (password)
which would let it use an IP address.
Nov 7 03:12:11 RHLSystem1 diald[772]: start sl0: RTNETLINK answers: File
exists
Nov 7 03:12:12 RHLSystem1 diald[772]: Delaying 10 seconds before clear to
dial.

You will notice the IP Address is a local address. This is not a problem
since I am using DYNAMIC Addressing (as specified in the diald.conf).
However, with the error message, it appears that PPPD doesn't realize
dynamic addressing. I tried without specifying remote address, as well as,
providing an Address in the Secrets File, still fails...

As far as the Secrets File (both PAP and CHAP), I have tried the
following entry formats:

1. UserName ppp0 Password
2. UserName ppp0 Password xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
3. UserName * Password
4. UserName * Password xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

I have tried all suggested changes, but NO LUCK...

I guess I will have to keep digging.... It's kind of frustrating since this
configuration works on RH6.0 with an earlier version of PPPD.
