Try this.

addroute "/etc/ppp/defaultroute.diald"
#and create this file

if [ "$1" = "ppp0" ]; then

# and make it executable...
chown root /etc/ppp/defaultroute.diald
chmod 700 /etc/ppp/defaultroute.diald
