Hi all, I am admittedly new to diald and I am having quite a time getting things to run smoothly.... I have been able to connect successfully manually with the command pppd /dev/ttyS0 115200 modem crtscts lock defaultroute connect "chat -f /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/chat-ppp0" This connects and I can ping and browse web pages fine. The connection is a dynamic PPP address. Now I am trying to transfer this to diald to get dial on demand. So I installed diald. I have a diald.conf file with the following ########### connect "chat -f /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/chat-ppp0" speed 115200 modem crtscts defaultroute local 192.168.0.1 remote 192.168.0.2 dynamic include /usr/lib/diald/standard.filter Now when I try this, the modem dials and connects and then hangs up pretty quickly. In the /var/log/messages log I get the messages as follows: modprobe: can't find module char-major-108 pppd: The remote system is required to authenticate itself but I pppd: could not find a suitable secret (password) for it to use to do so. So the connection does not work. And even more frustrating is when I use the manual connect pppd line I used before installing DIALD and I now get this authentication error!! (The last two lines of the error message above.) HELP. I have plowed through all sorts of MAN pages trying to figure what the heck is going on. As I am new to this mailing list I hope that I have provided enough information to possibly garner some suggestions. If not, I am HAPPY to provide any required information as best I can. Thank you in advance. --- Charles PS: I am running Redhat 6.1 if that helps at all. - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-diald" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
