I changed remote to 192.168.1.55 and local to 192.168.1.54 and when I start
the browser on a client the modem start to flash the diods TR, SD and RD,
but it never connects to my ISP. I have cut my /var/log/message file and
attach it with this mail. There are some problems but I can't find out what.

I would use something different than your LOCAL IP number, since I think it
may casue confusion. Use another thing on your network that is not use
(192.168.1.250 for example).
