Compiling diald-0.16 make *** [diald.o] Error 1

RH 6.1 kernel 2.2.12-20

Extracted diald-0.16.tar.gz to /usr/src/diald-0.16

While in that directory, I ran "make depend" which gave me the following
error:
make *** [diald.o] Error 1

If I run make
then
make install

it gives me this same error all the way thru. Any solutions any patches?

By the way, is diald-0.16 the latest version??
