Hi,

You should set up a local smtp mail relay...I use sendmail. Add your local
domain in "/etc/sendmail.cw".

You can check your sendmail configuration by using the -bv option. e.g.

sendmail -bv [EMAIL PROTECTED]

It should say that its deliverable and the mailer is local.

sendmail -bv [EMAIL PROTECTED]

It should say that its deliverable and the mailer is smtp or some external
mailing protocol set up in your configuration file.

To solve your mail relay problem, you need to enable sendmail to allow
relaying from your clients in your network. The relevant file is
"/etc/mail/access". Add something like:

192.168.1 RELAY

Don't forget to run make in that directory. This will allow sendmail to
relay mail for your clients in the 192.168.1.0/24 subnet.

For your information, pppd also supports demand dialing. You might not need
to use diald (and add another layer of complexity) if you don't need the
extra functionality. I can't remember which version of pppd started
supporting this option, but the version with my RedHat 6.0 - 2.3.7 - does.
Check out the "demand" option using "man pppd".
