Ok I'm really really close but ...   When I dial using pppd all is OK.   ie. /usr/local/bin/dial-geordi contains:   /usr/sbin/pppd /dev/ttyS1 115200 asyncmap 0 \     connect "/usr/sbin/chat -v -f /etc/ppp/chat-geordi" \     crtscts defaultroute -d   and my chat-geordi script contains:   'ABORT' 'BUSY' 'ABORT' 'ERROR' 'ABORT' 'NO CARRIER' 'ABORT' 'NO DIALTONE' 'ABORT' 'Invalid Login' 'ABORT' 'Login incorrect' '' 'AT S7=60 S0=0 S37=17 M1 L3 V1 X4 &C1 E1 Q0 %E1 %C1' OK 'ATDT1234567' CONNECT '\c' ogin: 'loginname assword: 'password'  '' 'ppp' I'm activating diald by typing:       diald -- -d   and diald loads and sits waiting.
