It seems that something is stopping diald from reading the ethertap device
on your setup. This is a configuration problem.
I've been using diald 0.9x with ethertap since before linux kernel 2.2.0 was
officially released. I have compiled ethertap both inline and as a module.
I can confirm that it does read the ethertap device with Kernel 2.2.14
(vanilla, RedHat and Debian - I have not tried compiling with the SuSE
patches).
I suggest using diald 0.99.4 instead of 0.99.1 because of the bug fixes
between the two version. Ethertap support does work in 0.99.1, there are
other problems though.
