Hi folks,
I have no idea where, but I seem to remember reading something about
a new feature of the dctrl that comes with 0.99.4 enabling pam au-
thentication.
But for the life of me, going through all the recent messages on this
list I have found only vague references (like needing libpam to compile
the source, etc.) and no substantial information. Also, the Changes
file or the rest of the docu don't shed any light either.
So, question to the gurus: what is it with pam and dctrl? How do I
use it?
What I'm hoping to be getting is as follows:
It would be great if it was possible to grant diald control privileges
on a user level, instead of the authsimple way by knowledge of privilege
group passwords.
Instead, I would then have a configuration file that sais: user 'foo'
has the right to up, down, block and force the link. User 'bar' has
the same rights, and can additionally quit and restart diald, etc.
All this could then be done without giving an 'access name', just
by looking at what user dctrl is running as.
Is this what the mysterious 'dctrl pam authentication' is able to do?
Please say 'yes' ... :-)
Greetings,
-Chris
