Details concerning my configuration and logs have been sent to Mike Jagdis. I want to thank Phil Salkie for suggesting a workaround that seems to be working for me. The workaround is to use a cron job that restarts diald. I have set it up to restart diald once per day and now (after three days elapsed) it seems to be behaving.
