Thanks for you prompt response. Please don't consider the username and
password, phone number, I just made them up... What's important is with this
setup I do get the other modem picking-up the phone and trying to connect..
how do I check what error message I might be getting?

Just a couple of things:-
a) Your phone number doesn't look right.
This will stop you connecting.
b) You have left in your User Name and Password.
Although there probably aren't many hackers reading
this list, there could be. This is an open invite to
get into the system you're trying to connect to.
