hello

Iam reading this mailinglist since several weeks, and had also made a
look in the history of this list.
But the more Iam reading the more I am getting konfused about all this
kinds of mpeg-stream formates.

Ok, for a normal user there is no need to know it exactly so its no
blame.

But I am searching for an answer, what would be the best way to convert
an windows avi to a format which is suitable for VDR.
Reason: I want digitize my analog videos to archive them on the VDR
machine. The acces should be directly possible via the VDR Recordings
Menu.

Iam interested on converting MJPEG -> VDR; The MJPEG comes from the
matrox-marvel card. Ok here I have some utilities to convert this
properitary codec to some standard windows codecs.
But then, what will VDR accept ?
Same question arises when I want convert the video stream which comes
from an Digital-Video-Camera.
And then at least: DIVX -> VDR.

Is there a FAQ anywhere on the net (readable for an end-user, not for an
codec-programmer ?)

thx
bb
